What ARE we entitled to?

8/14/2012

There has been much talk lately about entitlements. Most of the talk seems to center around the cost of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. These are called entitlements; because the recipients are entitled to the cash. After all, recipients of Social Security and Medicare have paid into the system for most (if not all) of their working lives. Lately, we've heard that Healthcare, Collective bargaining, and a college education are also universal entitlements. It's time to look at what we really ARE entitled to from our federal government.

We are entitled to a clear separation of powers on the federal level. (Article 2 Section 2)

We are entitled to the separation of powers between the federal and state governments. (Amendment 10)

We are entitled to have the laws that affect us created by legislators elected by ñ and thus answerable to ñ the people. (Article 1 Section 1)

We are entitled to see our tax money spent in ways that we approve; for the benefit of ALL citizens. (Article 1 Section 8)

We are entitled to a common defense from foreign invasion and domestic violence (that the states cannot control). (Article 4 Section 4)

We are entitled to judges who are bound by the supreme law of the land. (Article 6)

We are entitled to vote, no matter who we are. (Amendment 19, 24, & 26)

You will notice that I didn't touch on any of the rights guaranteed (but not granted) by the constitution. These are rights, not entitlements. The difference? Rights are something you're born with. But you can be forgiven if you thought rights and entitlements are the same thing; according to Webster's 9th Collegiate dictionary, they became synonyms in 1944.

It's sad, really; the noble concepts of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness can now safely be lumped together with a monthly check from the government. Money taken from others to be redistributed to those more deserving of it.

China is buying sovereign land inside America NOW.
http://www.dailypaul.com/207657/idaho-to-be-first-chinese-state

What does this all really mean?
http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/the-chinese-government-is-buying-up-economic-assets-and-huge-tracts-of-land-all-over-the-united-states

The following is an excerpt from the above link:

"It all sounds so great until you learn that one of the primary pillars of Project 60 is "Inward Foreign Direct Investment".

So how do you promote "Inward Foreign Direct Investment"?

Well, you do things like offer massive tax breaks to Chinese state-owned companies and you actively encourage immigration from China.

The following is a quote from an article on the New American website and it explains how a visa program known as EB-5 would help facilitate Project 60....

Specifically, “The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service administers an immigrant investor visa program called EB-5. The program grants foreigners permanent U.S. residency in exchange for helping create U.S. jobs.” This prong will facilitate the immigration of Chinese nationals into the United States for the purpose of establishing a Chinese industrial beachhead in Idaho, under the guise of creating U.S. jobs.

In fact, the state of Idaho is actually touting the EB-5 program on their website that promotes Project 60.

Yes, Chinese state-owned companies would probably hire a small number of Idaho citizens. But as I have written about previously, the idea would be for "special economic zones" to be set up inside the United States that would be very similar to the "special economic zones" inside China.

The following is how Wikipedia defines special economic zones....

A Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a geographical region that has economic and other laws that are more free-market-oriented than a country's typical or national laws. "Nationwide" laws may be suspended inside a special economic zone.

Apparently the government of Idaho believes that allowing the Chinese to set up a 50 square mile "special economic zone" just south of Boise would be a grand idea."

Additionally, the Chineese Idaho operation is to produce fertilizer, which would be fine as long as it doesn't get mixed with fuel oil by someone.

Obama agrees with Tea Party

Obama Finally Agrees, higher costs of doing business through government regulations costs jobs. By extention higher costs to businesses of higher taxes costs jobs. Additionally, LOWER costs to business of LESS regulations and less taxes CREATES JOBS. Lower costs = lower prices = more money in consumers' pockets to buy additional items. THAT requires the creation of additional jobs to produce those additional items. (here is a link to the entire article) http://bdtonline.com/local/x803542018/Obama-yields-on-smog-rule

This is NOT just about the EPA. ALL regulations that create significant compliance costs MUST be eliminated as the article reports “Obama said his decision was made in part to reduce regulatory burdens and uncertainty at a time of rampant questions about the strength of the U.S. economy.”
The AP report continues: “withdrawal of the smog regulation was a good first step toward removing obstacles that are blocking business growth. 'But it is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to stopping Washington Democrats’ agenda of tax hikes, more government ‘stimulus’ spending and increased regulations, which are all making it harder to create more American jobs,' said Boehner spokesman Michael Steel.” and “Thomas Donohue, president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said the move was 'an enormous victory for America’s job creators.'”

Obama finally is getting it, the Republicans' and the People know what is needed. Reduce regulations. Keep the mines and the coal fired plants open. STOP destropying jobs. Reduce regulations and taxes to CREATE jobs. Once the economy is cooking and we have an overabundance of jobs with higher wages and company supplied health care and pensions, THEN implement these regulations that will destroy jobs to cool off a hot economy to prevent run away inflation.

Cap and Trade Bad for WV, Bad for America

Cap and trade is not only a tax. Yes, it is the tax. It will raise the cost of everything that has to be shipped. That means you and I will be paying more so the government can get this money. The idea of this bill is to control our energy habits.  In further investigation of the Cap and Trade bill, we can find this bill would send government inspectors into homes to make sure the home is equip for green teleology. Do our elected officials not trust us to make wise decisions? We are the American people. We live in a nation of freedom where we must make decisions for ourselves.

Furthermore, West Virginia coal country will suffer economically from this legislation with an estimated loss of GSP in 2012 of -$275.44 and Non-Farm Job

Loss in 2012 of -3,084 (http://www.wvared.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/West-Virginia-Cap-and-Trade.pdf).

This legislation is bad for personal freedom, bad for West Virginia and bad for America. The house has already passed this legislation. The senate will vote on it in the fall. Senator Byrd has already said he will oppose it. Let’s keep the pressure on Senator Rockefeller. We, the voters, are responsible for holding our elected officials accountable. If we lose our freedom it is because we did not take a stand. Anyone can go to the State Capitol on Saturday, July 18 should go and make their voice heard. Keep writing and calling Senator Rockefeller. Let’s stand up for ourselves, our state, and our nation.
