Yesterday, I had the opportunity to celebrate the swearing in of our new Congress with fellow conservatives in Washington, DC. The room erupted in cheers when John Boehner received enough votes to become Speaker of the House.
A large group from West Virginia came to support our new congressman, David McKinley. We made our presence known my cheering Congressman McKinley when he voted for John Boehner to be speaker of the House and by singing “Country Roads,” as we gathered for a picture. Then we went to McKinley’s office congratulate him.
This is not the last time Congressman McKinley will hear from us. He said that he will be our voice in Washington. We must see that he knows where we stand on specific issues. We must watch his voting record. We must thank him when he votes with the people of West Virginia and let him know when he does not. He is our Congressman, and he will hear from us.
I would like to thank everyone for everything you did to help us replace the former Congressman Mollohan with the current Congressman McKinley. West Virginia is helping our nation return to Constitutionally limited government and fiscal responsibility.
