This Tuesday is a very important day, Primary Election Day! Polls are open Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.Every election is an opportunity to make our voices heard and participation in the elections keeps our elected officials accountable to the people. Many of you have already taken advantage of this opportunity by participating in early voting. For those that have not, here are a few things to consider.
Tea Party Candidates
Through a vetting process in which candidates were interviewed and those in attendance at our February meeting voted on who to support, our Tea Party group decided to support two candidates during this primary. The candidates supported by our group are as follows:
Diana Bartley (Republican) for the House of Delegates District 48
Joe Galan (Democrat) for Assessor in Harrison County
There are many other conservative candidates on the ballot. Please try to find information on other candidates and make an informed decision about each position.
Independent Voters
If you are an independent (No Party Choice) you may vote in either the Republican or Democratic Primary. Remember to request the ballot from the party in which you would like to vote. The poll workers are not supposed to ask which ballot you would like.
Delegates to the National Convention
The people who actually determine the presidential nominee of each party are the delegates to the National Conventions. The WV Republican Party lets the people decide who will represent our state at their national convention by listing those seeking this opportunity on the ballot. This vote may not get much press, however, it is an extremely important race. For those who are voting in the Republican primary, please thoughtfully consider your votes for delegates to the national convention.
My husband and fellow co-founder of the North Central WV Tea Party, Ryan Kennedy, wrote a blog to further explain the position of Delegate to the National Convention. The North Central WV Tea Party is not supporting any particular candidates for Delegate to the National Convention, however this blog does contain a list of local Tea Partiers and names submitted by Tea Party organizers from around the state.

Monthly Meeting
We will have our regular monthly meeting this Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the YWCA directly following a class on the Constitution presented by the Constitution Academy. The class begins at 6:00 pm. After the meeting some of us will be walking over to the courthouse to check out the progress of the election returns.
This is an important year for us to make our voice heard and the primary is one step of the process. I want to thank you for your participation. Together we can take our nation back.
Standing with you,
Laura Kennedy
Co-Founder of the North Central WV Tea Party
