The primary election is coming up soon. We have focused on the 1st Congressional District race. How could we not? Despite protests in front of his office, letters, phone calls, and faxes, Congressman Mollohan has ignored the voice of the people. He must be replaced by someone who listens to the constituents of the 1st Congressional District.
However, this is not the only race. We will also be voting for state and local offices. As the federal government overreaches its authority, the states can assert their rights. We need to be sure to elect officials that will uphold the constitution on the state level by asserting the rights guaranteed by the 10th Amendment. Please, get involved in the campaigns, not just for federal offices, but also state and local offices.
Delegate District 41, which includes all of Harrison County and a small portion of Marion, has four delegates. There are five Republicans running and six Democrats. There is a primary fight on both sides. We are hosting a candidate forum on April 10 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Shinnston Youth Center.
